Christian Horner will stay at Red Bull Racing until 2026. That's what Helmut Marko has officially announced to Motorsport.com, whereas he had previously told Servus TV that the talks were ongoing.

Horner has been Red Bull Racing's team principal since the team took over from Jaguar in Formula One. The young Briton was put forward by Helmut Marko as the ideal candidate. Although Dietrich Mateschitz had no idea who Horner was, he gave Marko confidence and went along with the choice for team boss.

That didn't turn out to be a bad move, as Horner managed to turn an 'energy drink brand' into a top team in F1. Whereas the team wasn't always taken seriously in the early years, that has changed now. Between 2010 and 2013, Red Bull won world titles with Sebastian Vettel and in 2021 they have done so again with Max Verstappen.

Although Red Bull missed out on the constructors' world title in 2021, the team is very happy with the way things are going. Verstappen is already in talks to extend his contract and Horner has now extended his through to 2026. This gives Red Bull some stability in the transitional years with new aerodynamic regulations in 2022 and new engine regulations in 2026.
