Red Bull Racing announced during the Belgian Grand Prix that Sergio Pérez will also be part of the team next season. It was a disappointment for Pierre Gasly who was hoping for a seat next to Max Verstappen.

The Frenchman was part of Red Bull before but had to make way for Alexander Albon after disappointing results. This season he is doing so well that he was once again eligible for a place in the team, but due to the extension of Pérez's contract, this possibility has disappeared.

Gasly not at Red Bull for the time being

Gasly still doesn't know what the exact reason is for Red Bull, he told Sky Sports. "I'm wondering why. But, yes, there were discussions and you know, I think they are really happy with my performance, but of course, there is not only this. You know like me how difficult it is and yes, they have made their decision.

"Obviously it was a little disappointment for me because that's where I want to be. I want to have a fast car. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. That's not to say it won't happen in the future, but next year I'm definitely not going to drive it."
