Lewis Hamilton has indicated that he hopes Max Verstappen suffered no physical damage in his crash at the British Grand Prix, but the British driver refuses to take the blame. In fact, he believes Verstappen should have been less aggressive in the opening lap at the Silverstone circuit.

"I was angry after the collision with Max. I don't feel like he needs to be so aggressive," Hamilton stated to the Sky Sports camera. "We went into Turn 6 and we were almost wheel to wheel. It looks cool, but I was trying to give him space."

Hamilton relishes victory

Hamilton doesn't think he should have done more. "I was on the inside of Turn 9 for quite a while and none of us were slowing down and then this was the end result." Whether winning in such a way is a blemish on the victory? "Honestly no. This is racing."

The seven-time world champion argues with the British medium that Verstappen just shouldn't drive so fiercely. "If someone is too aggressive, then things like this are lurking. There's no driver who doesn't know how aggressive a driver can be. I hope he's okay. I would have loved to have been up against him for the whole race. I'm not going to back down, against any driver," Hamilton concluded.
