Ricciardo: "Results are not yet great"

2019-07-22 16:40:51 by Joseph Tyrrell

Daniel Ricciardo's move from Red Bull to Renault raised many eyebrows and the Australian has admitted results aren't what he was hoping for but is happy with the work the team are doing on and off the track.

Ricciardo joined Renault for the 2019 season as he failed to agree on a new deal with his former team, Red Bull. Whilst his ex teammate Max Verstappen is challenging up front for the Bulls, Ricciardo is having a more difficult time sitting tenth in the Drivers' Championship, behind the likes of Lando Norris, Kimi Raikkonen and Carlos Sainz.

The Australian admitted he doesn't regret leaving Red Bull for Renault, telling Formule 1: "I would not have been better off at Red Bull.

"People often say to me 'Look at Max and where he is'. I'm not saying this against Red Bull, but they are exactly where they have been for the past five years."

Ricciardo went on to admit his results are "not yet great" but revealed his satisfaction with the work of his team, adding: "I am very happy with the team and what I see here.

"And most importantly, I'm happy with myself and what I'm trying to build up here with the engineers."
