Perez frustrated to finish P11 at the Austrian Grand Prix

Sergio Perez has admitted his frustration at finishing just outside the points at the Austrian Grand Prix as the Racing Point driver recovered from a poor qualifying to finish 11th.

After a difficult day of qualifying on Saturday, which saw Perez and Lance Stroll qualify in 16th and 17th respectively the pair started three places higher each due to the numerous penalties amongst the rest of the field. Whilst both made up places they failed to really make a proper assault on the points places, despite Perez finishing just outside the points.

Despite the disappointment Perez was adamant the team gave it their all during the race but a top ten finish was just out of sight.

“We gave it everything today, but points were just out of reach," Perez said.

"My start was good, but I locked up into turn three trying to get ahead of Giovinazzi and that’s pretty much where I stayed for the rest of the race – trying to chase him down.

"There were no real opportunities to do anything different. It’s always frustrating to finish in P11, but that’s the reality of our speed today.”
