Ocon left feeling "disappointed" following contract developments

Esteban Ocon looks increasingly likely to miss out on an F1 seat for 2019. The Frenchman admits he is disappointed with how things have worked out but holds no regrets. Ocon, 22, will complete his second full season at Force India but is likely to be replaced by Lance Stroll.

The replacement is likely to be forced with Lawerence Stroll taking control of the 'new' Force India following the administration process. Options developed for Ocon, but doors were slammed shut in his face. Seats at Renault and McLaren created viable opportunities. Opportunities which soon vanished.

"I am disappointed that other factors are taking precedence over results," Ocon told France's Auto Hebdo.

"I'm disappointed that two months ago we had two strong options and we have nothing today."

Toto Wolff has insisted he and his team will do all they can to give Ocon, their junior driver, a seat for 2019 and then 2020. But Ocon knows he can't regret the decisions made.

"If I did it again, I wouldn't change any of the decisions made," he added.

"I've gone through it 100 times in my head and I always come to the conclusion that based on the information we had, we made the right decision. It was impossible to see how things would turn against me as they did."
