With a lot of drivers eyeing his seat, Valtteri Bottas will have to fight again this season. Luckily, the Finn says he's ready to take on the competition.

Every year Valtteri Bottas has to fight again for a contract extension at Mercedes and this year there are a lot of drivers lurking around who want to take his place. For example, George Russell wants to make the transition to the top team and Sebastian Vettel doesn't have a seat yet for 2021.

The fact that Formula 1 will skip the Australian Grand Prix will be a blow to Bottas. The Finn often achieves good results on the circuit of Melbourne. "I was really ready for the start of the season in Australia, but it has all been postponed a bit", says Bottas in a Q&A video from sponsor Petronas.

Balance between work and leisure

The extra time the driver has been given, he says he has spent well. "It's been a number of months in which I've been able to follow the same process. I have made myself physically and mentally stronger. It has been a nice balance between free time and working on my dream. I feel I'm even more ready than I was in Melbourne."

"I'm also looking forward to the two races in Austria. It's a track I can really enjoy. Normally I have also achieved good results there. It's a nice place to start the season", the Finn concludes.
