After years of dominating Formula 1, Mercedes faces a significant year in 2022. The engines will remain the same, but the cars will be completely different. While the engine will still have a major impact on performance, as a team you cannot afford to make a misstep with the design of the car.

Pressure on Mercedes

As the reigning world champion, Mercedes also has the disadvantage of having the least amount of time in the wind tunnel. With the descending scale, they, therefore, have a number of runs less to test than Red Bull Racing and Ferrari. Red Bull can do two more runs per week and Ferrari even four runs. This could prove costly if Mercedes have early-season issues.
