First thing, one really shouldn't be comparing eras in racing. That said, since Sir Jackie has jumped in with his unique spin, so shall I. Jackie had 27 wins out of 99 starts as an F1 driver. In his rookie season '65, he garnered 1 win for the season. He did the same for '66 and had 0 wins for '67. In Lewis Hamilton's rookie season, he beat his team-mate Fernando Alonso, who was WDC for the previous 2 seasons - And Hamilton missed out on winning the championship that year by a single World Championship point! Lewis Hamilton also podiumed in each of his first 9 starts as an F1 driver, which has never been matched since! Lewis Hamilton has also never had an F1 season in which he did not win a race! Sir Jackie, Sebastian V, Fernando A, Michael Schumacher and even the great Ayrton Senna cannot match that record. So how many wins did Hamilton have after 9 seasons of Formula 1? 43 wins out of 167 races which is 25.74 percent. So there is roughly a 1 1/2 percent difference in win percentage between the two drivers over their first 9 seasons. They both had 3 championships over 9 seasons: '69, '71 and '73 for Stewart and '08, '14 and '15 for Hamilton. What Lewis has done since 2015 hasn't lessened his greatness - but has immortalized it. I will give Stewart props for his tireless work to make Formula One safer for drivers - he deserves our respect and thanks for it, but he should really just sit back and enjoy the races rather than comparing current drivers to himself or other old timers.
