I'm sorry, but this article paints a completely distorted picture of Rwanda. I have been visiting Rwanda multiple times a year for 25 years and it is an amazing country. There is genuine healing and reconciliation after the genocide (I note the article calls the genocide a 'civil war' which reveals a whole lot about Denderen's lack of grasp of Rwanda), the country is at peace and, contrary to the article, elections are fair and free - as attested by international observers. I voted in the recent presedential election, there was absolutely no coercion, voting was ordered, secret and completely free from anyone putting pressure on me to vote a certain way. Rwanda is largely free from corruption - in hundreds of visits to the country I have never been asked for anything remotely near a bribe. The people love Kagame, that is why he has been president for so long. To compare Rwanda to Saudi Arabia or China is a typical uninformed opinion of the country by people who don't know it and don't understand it.
