Lando Norris has been in the spotlight a lot during the past two years with his jokes and antics. This year, however, he is more in the background, and that seems to have benefitted his performance. It was a deliberate move by Norris to improve his image.

Norris is a cheerful note in the paddock and puts a smile on the faces of fans and fellow competitors alike. However, it sometimes seemed like too much of a good thing, and it impaced his performane. Norris has now changed that.

"A lot of what I was doing before was just trying to be a better person and find support from people, be liked. But for my own sake, I don't want people to just see me as a prankster or a guy who doesn't take things seriously. That's not who I am," Norris tells Motorsport.com.

The McLaren driver is now working to improve his image. "I just want to show that I have to put in the effort, that I work really hard to get better and get the results I have now and things like that. It doesn't come to me and I just wasn't very good at showing that side of it," Norris concluded.
