After an interesting third free practice session for the Styrian Grand Prix, qualifying for Sunday's race is set to take place. Max Verstappen can record something he hasn't managed so far in his career. Two consecutive pole positions in the same season. He has completed two in a row before, but that was the last GP of 2020 and the first of this season. After pole in France, he will be looking to topple Lewis Hamilton again at the Red Bull Ring.

Mercedes and Hamilton will be keen to bounce back from another disappointment last weekend. Should Mercedes not be able to score well in Austria, Red Bull will take a significant lead in both Championships. But the seven-time World Champion is still well within the mix for pole position this weekend. 

Can the midfield deliver surprises?

It will also be exciting behind the top teams, as the track is so short, differences will be small and midfield differences will be minimal. The question is if drivers will be able to take advantage of this, or if they will fall by the wayside. The teams will also have their eyes on the sky, as there is a reasonable chance of rain in Spielberg.
