Lately there have been a lot of stories about Hamilton hanging up his helmet. According to David Coulthard there is no truth in all of this and the driver will not stop for the time being. He knows from experience how the process goes when a driver wants to stop.

According to Coulthard, the seven-time Formula 1 champion is not leaving the sport for the time being. He's at the peak of his career and may want to start a family and do other things, but he's not going to stop racing, Coulthard told The Sun.

"I think he has complete inner peace and if he felt like quitting, we would have had that announcement already. And if he decides like that, then that's it straight away. Then I don't think he'll ever drive a lap in a race car again. I doubt we'll ever see him in a Le Mans car or anything like that."

Hamilton's contract is unusual

Coulthart goes on to say that Hamilton's contract being renewed for just one year at Mercedes is an unusual one. In addition, the delay that occurred during the negotiations is also not convenient, but that is no reason for the driver to hang up his helmet on the willows. He compares Hamilton with Muhammed Ali.

He's got all the power and at this point in his career he's found a way of working. He's capable of taking every opportunity of performance, I have no doubt about that. Every time you think he's beaten, he comes back. He's kind of like Muhammad Ali with his rope-a-dope. He's not as easy to read as the others."

The Scottish former driver suddenly stopped driving himself in 2008. Even before joining Red Bull, he pulled the plug. When he couldn't take it anymore during winter testing, he stopped racing and retired from the sport.
