Ferrari have a lot to make up for in 2021 after the disastrous 2020 season. Carlos Sainz steps into the team that fell hard in 2020, but the Spaniard is happy with the car at his disposal.

Sainz to Ferrari

At the start of 2020, Sainz was presented as the new Ferrari driver for the 2021 season. Sebastian Vettel was pushed aside and Sainz had to help rebuild the team. This is much needed, because after years of at least competing for podiums, Ferrari fell way back in 2020.

''What we see so far from the car is what we expected from it. We are happy with what we see and we are also happy to what extent what we see corresponds to what we had seen in the simulation. Now we still have to see where the others are,'' said Carlos Sainz according to Mundo Deportivo.

No faith in Mercedes

''The Red Bull looks good and I'm sure the McLaren will already be there, because with a narrower engine you can always improve the aerodynamics and you also have more power. So McLaren is definitely going to make a step forward and Alpine doesn't look bad either. Now we have to see what Ferrari can do.''

The Spaniard seems deliberately not to be saying anything about Ferrari's performance, which remained very much under the radar in Bahrain anyway. The Italians drove enough laps, but we didn't see any fast runs. Sainz is not worried about that though. I don't believe anything of what I see from Mercedes or other teams. It's still way too early'', the Ferrari driver concludes.
