British driver Sam Bird has won the Hong Kong E-Prix after another race full of nose-to-nose racing. Edoardo Mortara and Lucas di Grassi completed the podium on Formula E's 50th edition. The race win is under investigation for a last-minute collision as Sam Bird nudged Andre Lotterer who retired with a puncture.

UPDATE: SAM BIRD LOSES VICTORY AFTER FIVE-SECOND PENALTY

Stoffel Vandoorne started on pole but was forced into a retirement 15 minutes from the chequered flag. Felipe Massa finished inside the top 10 as two other former Formula 1 drivers collided together to bring out the red flag.

Bird becomes the first multiple race winner of the season having won the Marrakesh E-Prix in January and he takes the championship lead.

Vandoorne, the former McLaren driver lost his lead in the opening corner. Bird moved up five places, contributing to the total of 42 overtakes in the first lap.

After the red flag, caused by Nasr and Wehrlein's crash, Vandoorne slipped down to 4th and then 16th before retiring.

In typical Formula E style, the excitement was retained until the end of the race. With 15 minutes left, Bird was following Lotterer and attempted many overtakes.

The Brit was hampered by two safety car periods in the final 15 minutes. But with Lotterer picking up a puncture on the final lap of the race, Bird's way through was made simple. This incident is under investigation.
