Bearman convinces Marko: 'Red Bull had a conversation with him'

After just one appearance in Formula 1, Oliver Bearman is predicted to have a golden future in Formula 1. Ferrari no doubt commend themself for having the young Briton in their own Academy, but also realises that there is no place for Bearman within their ranks for 2025 and 2026. Haas F1 seem the logical stopover on the way to the top, or is there perhaps a privateer on the coast? After all, Red Bull Racing are always on the hunt for talented drivers.

Oliver Bearman made an excellent debut in Formula 1 at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. The only 18-year-old Briton replaced Carlos Sainz at the last minute, who had to undergo emergency surgery on his appendix. Meanwhile, the Spaniard seems fit again, so youngster Bearman will basically drive his races in Formula 2 again in Melbourne.

Marko keen to see Bearman at Haas

Helmut Marko, in charge of the Junior Team at Red Bull, impressed Bearman in Jeddah. On whether the Brit really should have been given a chance at Ferrari in '25, the Austrian tells OE24: "They brought in Hamilton for a hefty sum and signed a long-term contract with Leclerc. I would put the boy in a smaller team like Haas next year. A year of learning never hurt anyone, it also takes the pressure off."

Marko confesses that Bearman has also been on Red Bull's radar. The youngster would have fitted in fine with the sister team, which has been called Visa Cash App RB since this season. "We actually had an informative meeting with him, but he was already at the Ferrari Academy. That we will train him for Ferrari is unimaginable," Marko said.
