Marko: 'Verstappen can no longer win in the RB19'

In the 2023 F1 season, Max Verstappen broke a lot of records with Red Bull Racing. Many people think that with last season's RB19, the Dutchman would still win this season too. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko thinks otherwise.

Verstappen and Red Bull have been a good combination for some time. Last season highlighted this once again. Indeed, the Dutchman won 19 out of 22 races with his team this season. The RB19 is therefore talked about as the most dominant F1 car ever.

There are a lot of people who have so much faith in Verstappen and Red Bull that they think he can win this year's championship with his car from last year as well. Helmut Marko is convinced this is not true. "That's rubbish. Last year, McLaren, for example, came close to us on certain tracks, but they weren't consistent enough". said the Austrian in conversation with OE24.

Marko keeps his expectations low

Marko also elaborates on what he expects from the upcoming season. "That will become clear next week at the tests in Bahrain. What we can already say is that the new car is an evolution of last year's car, and we had the best package. If we eliminate the few weak points, not much should go wrong. But who knows: perhaps a competitor has managed to pull off a special trick during development."
