Although the livery of McLaren's new Formula 1 car was already known, on Wednesday the team of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri showed off the new look on the actual 2024 F1 car: the MCL38. Compare this year's car with last year's in the photos below.

In terms of looks, McLaren are following the same trend as many other F1 teams: more unpainted carbon and thus more black on the car. The car is still papaya orange, but the blue accents have disappeared and given way to more black.

There are also the necessary differences on the new car compared to last year's MCL60. The new rear wing stands out: Red Bull Racing featured a similar design when Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez tested the RB20 at Silverstone.

Team boss Andrea Stella stresses that the work is far from over, so there will be further changes to the MCL38 in the near future. The Woking-based team have not yet been able to address all the issues they wanted to and will start doing so in the run-up to and during the 2024 F1 season.
