Formula 2 pre-season test starts today and this is what to expect

11 February - 10:00

The Bahrain circuit will host the Formula 2 pre-season test in the coming days. Drivers like Victor Martins, Oliver Bearman and newcomer Andrea Kimi Antonelli will do their best to get to know the car and get as many kilometres as possible under the lights in Bahrain.

This afternoon at 17:00 local time, 14:00 GMT, the cars will take to the track for the first time. They have already been able to do their first kilometres in the Shakedown a few weeks ago. At the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the drivers got to see and drive the car for the first time. Today, tomorrow and Tuesday, all 22 drivers will take to the track in preparation for the first round of the F2 Championship from 29 February to 2 March, also in Bahrain.

What to expect?

There are several three-hour-long sessions. The first is today from 17:00 to 20:00 local time. Tomorrow and Tuesday there are two sessions on the same day. One from 11:45 to 14:45 and then another two-and-a-half-hour session from 17:15 to 19:45. The tyres provided by Pirelli are the hard and soft compounds. There are five sets of hard tyres and three sets of soft tyres available. The sessions cannot be followed via video, although live timings can be seen on the Formula 2 website.
