Red Bull Racing working hard on the RB20: Horner gives an update

16 January - 08:00

Red Bull Racing have announced the date: on 15 February, the Austrian team will present the RB20. Or rather, the team is unveiling the car's livery for 2024. Until the test days in Bahrain, the Milton Keynes factory is working hard on the car, which is an evolution of the successful RB19. For now, Christian Horner is happy with what he sees.

According to the team principal, all targets have been met recently, he told PlanetF1.com. "We don’t have a lot of preseason testing these days, we’ve got a lot to focus on and to get done, but it’s always a busy time of year in the factory in the planning stage for the season ahead," Horner said.

Helmut Marko recently responded to rumours that Red Bull's new car had failed the mandatory crash test. Horner was also asked if there had been any obstacles in the development process. Without mentioning the crash test, Horner said, "There are always challenges along the way but, if you’re not on the limit, you’re not trying hard enough."

Horner holds back

Test and simulator driver Jake Dennis indicated last week that he expects Red Bull to be world champion next season as well. The current Formula E champion is basing this on his own findings in the simulator. However, Horner tempered expectations, stating that there is always a difference between the real world and the virtual world.

The team boss hopes to see in Bahrain that the simulator's predictions do indeed become real. "Hopefully, we’re making progress. But the stopwatch never lies and we’ll only see when we get to the track," Horner concluded.
