Toto Wolff racing career

Wolff was born on 12 January 1972 in Vienna, Austria. His career began in motorsport, but soon the Austrian found out that he would not make it to the top. After his racing career, he therefore turned to business and was much more successful there.

Wolff initially found Marchfifteen (1998) and Marchsixteen (2004), two companies focused on internet and technology investments for businesses. Wolff also becomes co-owner of HWA AG in 2006, where he buys 49 per cent of the shares. The company entered the DTM in 2007 and are also seen in Formula 3.

Toto Wolff steps into Formula 1

Interest in Formula 1 then started. In 2009, Wolff bought shares in the Williams Formula 1 team and even became managing director in 2012. Wolff does not stay there for long, as he makes the move to Mercedes in 2013. There, Wolff not only becomes the team boss and CEO but also owns a third of the Mercedes F1 team.

Due to the success of the Mercedes F1 team, Wolff's wealth has soared. He bought Mercedes' shares in 2013 for around $50 million. Mercedes, then valued at around $150 million, is now valued at $3.8 billion by Forbes. Wolff owns 33 per cent of that.

In April 2020, Wolff also bought 4.95 per cent of Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings, the parent company under which Aston Martin's F1 team falls. His 5 per cent stake in Williams was sold by Wolff to new owner Dorilton Capital in 2021, and Wolff was also involved as CEO of the Mercedes Formula E team that became two-time world champions.
