Ferrari are facing another big change before the start of the new season. After the departure of Laurent Mekies, Corriere dello Sport knows that the head of the strategy department will also make way for someone else.

Ignacio Rueda, currently still the leader of the Scuderia's strategy team, will remain within Ferrari, just in a different role. It seems the Spaniard will be working on the brand's sports cars. Thus, a long-standing partnership in Formula 1 comes to an end. The Madrid-born Spaniard worked for years with Ferrari in the top class of motorsport.

Strategic blunders from Ferrari

Strategy is always a sticking point for Ferrari, though. Despite Carlos Sainz 's victory in Singapore, the team managed to disappoint often enough. In Monaco in 2022, for instance, there was much frustration when Charles Leclerc was called in just a few laps after his first pit stop. Similarly, Hungary was dramatic that same year.

Because of the temperature, the hard tyre was not the right choice for the track. The team put Leclerc on the hard tyres after all, only to find out later that it didn't work. Thus, the Monegasque had to go in an extra time. There was drama in America last season. Once again, Leclerc was on an interesting one-stop strategy.
