'Vettel texted Verstappen after breaking record at Monza'

Sebastian Vettel may have lost his record of most consecutive wins to Max Verstappen, but the four-time world champion is not mourning it. On the contrary, the German is happy for the Dutchman that he is now the first driver ever with ten consecutive victories in Formula 1. According to de Telegraaf, Verstappen received a message from Vettel not long after the Italian Grand Prix, which included heartfelt congratulations.

According to the newspaper, the German told his former rival to"continue to enjoy his success". It was the same Vettel who recently told Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko that as far as he was concerned, the Austrian team and their star driver could go on winning for a while. At least so long that the record would never be broken again.

Verstappen closing in on Vettel's wins

It is no secret that Verstappen and Vettel get along well. Vettel is currently third on the ranking of most wins in Formula 1. The German, who has won races for Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, picked up 53 wins in Formula 1. Verstappen - who occupies spot five in this ranking - is now firmly on his heels. The Dutchman now has 47 victories. It is therefore not inconceivable that Verstappen could pass him during the current season.

In a fortnight' time, Verstappen will have the chance to at least set the record for consecutive wins. The Dutchman has never won in Singapore. It is, however, the last place where Vettel took a victory in Formula 1.
