Hundreds of thousands of Dutch fans will find their way to the Zandvoort circuit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to cheer Max Verstappen at the Dutch Grand Prix. Just as just before the summer break, many tens of thousands crossed the border to cheer on the two-time world champion during the Belgian GP. Despite the huge interest, the future of both races is uncertain.

Spa and Zandvoort have a contract for 2024, the Dutch Grand Prix already knows they will also have a place on the calendar in 2025. After that, it is unclear whether Formula 1 will return for the race at Zandvoort and/or Spa. There were already rumours that the Netherlands and Belgium will alternate as venues for a Grand Prix from 2025; with Spa then in 2026 and Zandvoort again in 2027, onwards.

Ahead of his second home race of the season, Verstappen was asked whether he thinks both races should be held annually: "I think many circuits deserve a place on the calendar, but they (Formula 1) also want to make a lot of money. It's always a difficult story. I think rotating can work wrong too. For both," Verstappen said in a conversation with Dutch media, including GPblog.

Verstappen enjoys

The championship leader can enjoy the entourage again this weekend anyway, created by his fans. He really does, as he enjoys all the great moments. "I've talked about that with my father since I was a child; that I have to enjoy. I can clearly remember the night of my first championship. If I had to do something over on that night, I wouldn't have done much differently. In hindsight, there are always things I might have enjoyed a bit more. But it's easy to talk in hindsight," Verstappen said.
