There has been increasing speculation this season about a possible retirement of Dr Helmut Marko. The Austrian has a contract until 2024, and he himself has already denied that he will retire after the current season. Speaking to Motorsport-Magazin.com, the Red Bull Racing team's top advisor tells us that a decision around his retirement involves certain aspects.

Since 2005, at the start of the Red Bull Racing team, Marko was an instant fixture. Among others, he brought Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen to the Austrian racing stable. Both became champions for the team. The former driver also managed to bring Red Bull race winners such as Mark Webber, Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Perez to the team, and so it is fair to say that Marko did a great job at the team that was called Jaguar before his arrival.

Marko wants to know nothing about speculation retirement

Marko is now 80 years old, and there is increasing talk of retirement. Marko himself, however, does not need to know anything about that yet: "As long as I am mentally and physically fit, and I am fascinated and enthusiastic about the sport, and as long as the responsibilities I have give me the chance to continue here, I will. I don't feel like an old man who can't keep up. As long as I can make a positive contribution, that's what matters."
