Carlos Sainz has been with Ferrari since 2021. Since then, the Spaniard picked up some great results for the team, including three pole positions and a victory at Silverstone in 2022. According to Sainz, being a Ferrari driver is fantastic, but it also demands a lot from him. In an interview with the Formula 1 website, he commented on this.

Sainz is proud of his career so far

Sainz made his debut at Toro Rosso in 2015 alongside Max Verstappen. He then drove for Renault and McLaren and finally joined Ferrari in 2021. Looking back on his career so far, Sainz says he is especially proud of what he has achieved: "I’m very proud, very proud, Especially making it to a team like Ferrari. I’m not taking it for granted, because I know how tough it is and how much it has meant… How much it has cost me to make it here, how much I had to sacrifice and put an effort into this."

Despite the hard work, Sainz enjoys his position and is living his dream. The Spaniard also says that he feels he is in the perfect environment to continue developing himself in the coming years and strive towards his ultimate goal; to become a world champion. "Ferrari is a great place to be. Every circuit you go to you have the tifosi. Every race almost feels like a home race because of the amount of support you get from all the Ferrari fans around the world," Sainz said.

'Driving for Ferrari is demanding'

Asked if driving in front of so many fans and for such an iconic team brings pressure, Sainz replied as follows: "It is true that it’s also demanding, it’s a very demanding team from a mental point of view because there’s more pressure surrounding it. We have a lot of sponsors and a lot of events to attend." Therefore, the Ferrari driver also thinks you have to be at the peak of your career when you drive for Ferrari. He himself thinks he is, partly because of his still young age and the many Formula 1 kilometres he has already driven since 2015.
