Pirelli has announced the fastest strategy for the Hungarian Grand Prix. In addition, the Italian tyre supplier also shared which tyres are still available to the teams.

A one-stop strategy will be very difficult at the Hungaroring, according to Pirelli. It is hot in Hungary and so the tyres will wear out quickly. The only strategy with only one pit stop is from hard to medium, but that is given as the last option by Pirelli. The most logical option seems to be medium-hard-hard or medium-hard-medium.

Norris on a fresh tyre

Pirelli's tyres are a major issue this weekend anyway, with the alternative qualifying format. As a result, teams have fewer tyres at their disposal and had to use them more sparingly to have enough left for qualifying and the race. Max Verstappen was not at all happy about this.

That same Verstappen no longer has a new soft or medium tyre at his disposal to start on. If Verstappen wants to start on a fresh tyre, he will have to start on the hard tyre. The likelihood of this does not seem high. Indeed, Verstappen is not the only one without fresh tyres: everyone who came out in Q3 has no soft tyre left.

Lando Norris is the only driver who seems to have a slight advantage. Indeed, the number three on the grid has a fresh medium tyre at his disposal. This makes the Briton the only one in the top-10.
