Vasseur responds to Marko suggestion: "In racing, you don't buy anything for that"

Ferrari had weaker weekends in Monaco and Barcelona, but in Canada the Maranello-based racing stable was in better shape again. Tyre degradation was low, which is something we have not seen from the Italian team for a very long time. Frederic Vasseur is therefore a happy man.

"It was a good weekend, we showed a strong pace. Yesterday was tough, but to come from the 10th and 11th starting spot and then seize fourth and fifth is rewarding for us. We see light at the end of the tunnel, we're heading in the right direction," a pleased Vasseur told Sky's German branch.

Ferrari now good on Sunday too

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz handled their tyres well and that was also thanks to some changes at Ferrari. As in 2022, the current number four in the constructors' championship is struggling with high tyre degradation this year, but the first signs of recovery were thus there in Canada. Helmut Marko even went so far as to say that he had seen that Ferrari was the fastest in Montreal on both mediums and hard tyres.

Vasseur cannot do much with the suggestion that if Ferrari had started further forward, that they had a serious chance of victory. " In racing, that doesn't buy you anything," said the team boss, who went on to reveal that an update will be introduced in Austria. In any case, the task ahead for the team is clear. "We are competitive everywhere in qualifying, but we have to do everything right. That is the most important thing. A flawless weekend in terms of strategy, qualifying and race and we have a chance."
