An online petition has started which calls for Kimi Raikkonen to be kept on by Ferrari as rumours continue to signal that the Finn's time at the team is coming to an end. Sauber and Ferrari academy driver Charles Leclerc is looking increasingly likely to replace Raikkonen at the team.

The petition on change.org, organised by fan Christy John, claims that Raikkonen is more than deserving of retaining his seat at Ferrari and highlights his recent performance at Monza as clear evidence that he should continue with Ferrari for another year.

“Kimi has also outperformed Vettel a number of times proving he is back on form and his drive in Monza just adds more credibility to that," John states.

Although the petition has amassed some attention, it will likely have no bearing on Ferrari's decision to keep or replace Raikkonen at the team.

Charles Leclerc has been rumoured since the beginning of the summer break to make an unlikely switch from Sauber to the Ferrari team, something the Scuderia scarcely do.

Taking a chance on a young driver is rare for the team, but Leclerc's ability in F1 has been clear to see since his debut back in Melbourne.

Coming off of the back of his F2 title, Leclerc has impressed many with his qualifying and racing ability that have many suggesting that the recent rumours are true and that 2018 will be Kimi Raikkonen's final year with the Ferrari team.
