Perez praises 'good loser' Verstappen: 'Not very normal in F1'

Max Verstappen may be (or was) a bit of a bad loser in Formula 1. And admittedly, when something did not go the way the Dutchman wished in the past, he could be quite fierce (perhaps fiercer than he is now). Sergio Perez, however, does not think his teammate is a bad loser at all.

In the podcast Pardon My Take, in which Verstappen himself joined, the subject comes up. As Perez sits next to Max, he says: "He's a good loser, I will say. He has a fame of [a] bad loser. But honestly whenever I beat him he's like, he's really like 'well done'."

In doing so, he was complimenting Verstappen, as Perez is not really used to that from his previous teammates. "It's not very normal in F1 to have like, that sort of teammate. He really comes and you know, 'well done mate' and you can see that he feels it, and that's... I appreciate that," said the 33-year-old Mexican.

Perez has six victories to his name in the top class of motorsport. He scored five of those victories while Verstappen was his teammate. For his other (also first) win in Formula 1, we go back to 2020. On behalf of Racing Point, he then won the Sakhir GP.
