Alonso for the first time responds to Taylor Swift relationship rumours

Rumours are circulating that Fernando Alonso has found a new girlfriend in Taylor Swift. The Aston Martin driver was confronted with it in Azerbaijan by Sky Sports and the Spaniard could not suppress a smile.

"I have nothing to say about it," he said on the paddock in Baku on Thursday. Then the two-time world champion was asked whether it is true or not: "I can't say more about it," he laughed. "I'm just focused on Baku and racing."

After three third-place finishes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia, Alonso hopes to be on the podium in Baku as well. The weekend in Baku is all about the new sprint format. "Obviously the new format of the weekend is extremely complex for a driver, especially on Saturday morning. First time you go in the car, you tighten the belts and you’re into Q1, so that will be a new thing for all of us and enough to think [about].”

Alonso prepared well for Baku

Alonso spent a lot of time in the simulator last week. "I tried to replicate what the weekend was and tried to see the challenges, and we will try to pay more attention," said the 41-year-old driver.
