Alonso jokes about rumours surrounding him and Taylor Swift

Fernando Alonso has humorously referred to the rumours surrounding his love life. On social media, the Aston Martin driver took it upon himself to stir the pot a little on the speculation linking him to a famous singer.

A few weeks ago, Alonso announced the news that he and his partner Andrea Schlager had broken up after about a year. The Spaniard, who generally releases little about his life off the track, did not share much more information about the split. However, rumours are now surfacing that he has since found a new love, namely none other than singer Taylor Swift.

In fact, even the word 'rumours' lends it still too much credibility. After Swift's relationship ended around the same time as Alonso's, people started speculating online that the two events were related. A gossip website added it had heard from an anonymous source that they were indeed together and a couple of Spanish magazines also claimed that the two celebrities had been 'seeing each other' for about a week now. That seems to be the full scope of the evidence, after which the story took on a life of its own online.

Alonso pokes fun at rumours

Official confirmation of the rumours is thus non-existent, but leave it to Alonso to stir things up some more. The Spaniard, who often likes to do a little trolling on social media anyway, posted a clip of himself on Tiktok with Swift's music playing in the background. At the end of the clip, Alonso winks at the camera with a meaningful smile.

In the text surrounding the video, Alonso also makes a few references to the supposed new romance. The caption of the video is "Race week era" a reference to the Eras Tour Swift is currently on. In the comments, Alonso also puts "Feeling 33", referring to a line from Swift's song '22', Swift's age (33) and the fact that Alonso is chasing his thirty-third F1 victory.
