Alpine became the last Formula 1 team to show its new car to the world on Thursday night. To what extent does the A523 resemble its predecessor and how has the car's livery changed over the years? GPblog lists the cars of recent years.

Alpine (and Renault) through the years

Until the 2021 F1 season, the current Alpine still went through life as Renault. With that came a different livery than we are used to today: for years, the team drove around with a predominantly yellow car, which in more recent years was yellow and black.

However, the most memorable livery dates back to the early 2000s. Back then, Renault was seen with a blue and yellow car, which, with Fernando Alonso behind the wheel, was good for two constructors' titles and two drivers' titles in a row.

When Renault was renamed Alpine in 2021, its livery also underwent a drastic change. Yellow gave way to blue and pink was added the following year. This is the case again in 2023: Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly will drive the first three Grands Prix in a pink car in connection with sponsor BWT. The rest of the season will again be run in a predominantly blue car with pink accents.
