Binotto cannot suppress anger: 'Unacceptable'

Mattia Binotto saw Max Verstappen clinch the world title on Sunday. That was partly due to the five-second time penalty for Charles Leclerc imposed by race control. The Ferrari team boss was surprised by the handling around the Monegasque, but saw it disappoint in other areas as well.

The Grand Prix in Japan was very turbulent due to heavy rain on the track. The drivers had to go in just after the start of the race because of a red flag, after which it took two hours to go back on track behind the safety car.

"Starting without a start behind the safety car in critical conditions, a crane on the track, a whole series of events that are showing that the situation is not easy," Binotto told Sky Italia in an interview.

FIA disappoints Binotto

Binotto reveals, however, that he does not want to tell the outside world any further what he thinks of the situations, but that he will certainly share this during meetings with the FIA soon. He hopes the latter will act differently in the future.

"We will talk about it in the appropriate fora, so I don't want to stand here and comment too much. I've said before: it's unacceptable and it's unacceptable to see how the decision was taken today in front of not even a lead gained, without having had a chance to listen to the drivers."
