Red Bull Racing will find out in the 2022 season if their decisions last year worked. Due to the departure of Honda, it was decided to build engines for Red Bull and AlphaTauri completely independently starting this year. This season they will still get support from Honda, but in the coming years, they will have to do it more and more themselves.

According to Max Verstappen, that transition is going tremendously well so far. According to the Dutchman, there is not so much to notice about Honda leaving yet, also because Honda is not completely gone in practice. This season they will still provide support and that all happens at Red Bull's brand new factory.

Verstappen proud of Red Bull

"The facility looks really good. I know about the plans and what's coming. It all looks very promising," Verstappen explained in the press conference prior to the first race weekend of this season. Although the engines are still made with help from Honda, the team was not able to make a big leap last winter in terms of engine performance.

"The engine for this year, we made a nice step forward but we have to wait and see what other teams did. From our side, we did the best we could but it's never good enough. You have to keep improving," the reigning world champion concluded.
