Honda are not happy with the results of the sprint qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen did what he had to do and increased his lead over title rival Lewis Hamilton by two points, although even he allowed Valtteri Bottas at the start. The other Honda drivers were a little disappointed with their results, which the Japanese engine manufacturer hopes to make up for on Sunday.
Technical director Toyoharu Tanabe expresses his disappointment in a press release from Honda Racing F1. "Unfortunately, all four Honda cars lost places in sprint qualifying compared to their starting positions. A long race over 71 laps awaits us tomorrow."

"As we saw today, the gap to our rivals is very small and it was also clear that subtle differences in conditions can have a big impact on the cars' performance," he continued.
Tanabe is therefore anything but gloomy about their chances in the race. "We will now study the data from yesterday and today, as well as the weather forecast for tomorrow, with the aim of doing better in the Grand Prix itself," the Honda chief concluded.
