The constructors' championship seems to be divided into duels between different teams. Alpine and AlphaTauri are fighting for P5 together. No wonder Pierre Gasly is unhappy about his retirement in the United States.

Third DNF for Gasly

Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are fighting a thrilling title fight. Behind them, McLaren and Ferrari are very evenly matched. And AlphaTauri is in good form and is aiming for P5 in the championship. With only ten points behind Alpine, Gasly would have liked to do better at COTA.

It was a tough race for the Frenchman. Formula1.com quotes the driver: "It was quite eventful. We had a sensor problem on the grid, which the team managed to fix. But then after the start of the race, we had a suspension failure which got worse lap by lap until the moment it completely failed, so we had to retire the car.”

Tsunoda a plaster on the wound

What made the retirement extra sour for Gasly was that there were opportunities to score points: “Being fully objective, I think we didn’t have the pace to fight the McLarens and Ferraris, but a ninth place, and the two cars in the points, was possible."

Tsunoda helped the team somewhat, scoring two points to reduce AlphaTauri's deficit to Alpine to ten points. Gasly: “It's very frustrating because we know every point counts at this stage in our midfield battle."
