Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1 believes Formula 1 is returning to "one of the best tracks in the world" for the Turkish Grand Prix. Following the dropout of the Singapore Grand Prix, F1 have worked hard to find another replacement to keep 23 Grands Prix on the schedule. The sport continues to adapt through the coronavirus pandemic.

Turkish GP returns

The Istanbul Park circuit was due to hold a Formula 1 race earlier in the season, coming in to replace the Canadian Grand Prix. However, additional restrictions came which forced the cancellation. Now it's back on the schedule for October.

“We are delighted to be coming back to Turkey to Intercity Istanbul Park circuit. We hope to see another fantastic race again on one of the best tracks in the world," Stefano Domenicali said in the official statement.

Continue to adapt

Formula 1 and Liberty Media are very keen to host 23 Grands Prix during 2021. That will be a new record and the sport has demonstrated they can replace races quickly. Once again, the sport reacts but this might not be the last time. The Japanese Grand Prix remains in doubt.

"We want to thank the Intercity Istanbul Park management and Mr. Vural Ak for his personal efforts to make this event to happen. We have shown that we can continue to adapt and there is huge interest in our sport and the hope from many locations to have a Grand Prix. We have had very good conversations with all the other promoters since the start of the year and continue to work closely with them during this period," Domenicali added.
