Kvyat "My job remains the same" as he looks to move on following Albon's promotion

Daniil Kvyat may consider himself unlucky to miss out on the Red Bull seat now occupied by Alex Albon but the Russian driver has admitted that the move doesn't bother him in any way.

Albon was confirmed to race for Red Bull from the Belgian Grand Prix, replacing Pierre Gasly for the rest of the season who will drop down to Toro Rosso. He'll partner Kvyat who despite missing out on the promotion has a better record than Albon, which includes a podium in Germany.

With Albon's lack of F1 experience and Kvyat's knowledge of the Red Bull setup and improved form many felt he deserved the seat ahead of the Thai driver. However, Kvyat is determined to get his head down and isn't bothered by the team's decision.

“I am not disappointed or something like that. My job remains the same and my year has been great so far," Kvyat told AutoSport.

Kvyat also admitted he accepted the reasoning behind the choice, adding: "I'd rather look at those things than at things that are beyond my control. I understand the decision. I think my year has been very strong, but there are other reasons to try Alex in a competitive car.

"We must not forget that I have already driven for Red Bull. The decision was for the team, I respect and accept that decision, so I have no problems with it."
