Lewis Hamilton has taken a lead role to ensure F1 becomes more diverse in recent years. Within his current team, Mercedes, he has already managed to implement improvements. Now it is up to the Briton to start setting this up at his next team, Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton has been pushing for more diversity in Formula 1 for years. He wants there to be a diverse group of people working in the sport and for it to better reflect society. The Briton has set up several projects for this and devotes his own money and time to it.

Diversity within Mercedes

Hamilton has been driving at Mercedes for a long time. In this team, therefore, he has now been reasonably successful in creating more diversity. 'Well, firstly, I'm immensely proud of the work that we've done within Mercedes. Since 2020, we've made some real great strides in improving the diversity within the team. For example, within HR, we've got a diverse HR group and that will continue beyond me, which is something I'm really proud of. As I said, I'm proud of the team for pushing so hard ahead. I think we are ahead of every other team in that respect."

Diversity within Ferrari not yet in order

The Briton is not yet satisfied with the diversity in the sport at the moment. "There still is a huge amount of work within the whole sport. I'm speaking to Stefano constantly and looking to work more with Formula 1." From 2025, Hamilton will go to Ferrari. The Italian team still has a lot of work to do, but the 39-year-old has already taken up the subject there too. "And of course, if you look at Ferrari, they have a lot of work to do. I've already made that a priority in speaking with John and they're super excited to get on and work on it also."
