Hamilton in a Ferrari, although it was a boyhood dream of the British driver, we did not actually see it happening. Yet he managed to surprise friend and foe when he announced he would make the switch to the Italian racing stable in 2025. At the Ziggo Sport Race Café , Renger van der Zande is asked the question whether he sees Verstappen ever making the switch to Mercedes' team, his answer was clear.

Rob Kamphues, who had a veritable horror holiday this winter, asked questions that the audience wrote down to the men at the table. Among others, Olav Mol, Rick Winkelman, Rob van Gameren and so Renger van de Zande were at the race café on the programme. Kamphues comes in asking if Verstappen will ever drive a Mercedes, Van der Zande responds clearly: ''I don't rule it out. We have seen that before. Hamilton also ruled out going to Ferrari.''

With Hamilton's move to Ferrari, many fans, and therefore analysts, are starting to think aloud about other big driver transfers that could happen. For now, Verstappen is still comfortable, he still has a contract at Red Bull Racing until 2028. Helmut Marko recently acknowledged that the Dutchman does have a clause in his contract, what exactly the clause entails is still unclear.

Renger van der Zande

Renger van der Zande has had a fine racing career. The 38-year-old driver managed to win the 24 Hours of Daytona twice. In 2019 and 2020, he went away with the win. In 2019, he was in the team with current F1 driver Fernando Alonso when the race was flagged off early due to heavy rain. This year, he is racing the FIA World Endurance Championship on behalf of Cadillac Racing. 2 March he kicks off there at the Lusail circuit in Qatar.
