His wife Susie has already responded twice via social media to the fuss surrounding the two of them, but Toto Wolff was silent for a long time. For the first time, the Mercedes team boss has now also responded to the FIA's (now discontinued) investigation into the couple's integrity.

In a statement to the media from Mercedes, Wolff said: "We understand that there is significant media interest in the events of this week. We are currently in active legal exchange with the FIA. We await full transparency about what took place and why and have expressly reserved all legal rights. Therefore we ask for your understanding that we will not be commenting officially for now, but we will certainly address the matter in due course."

Week full of publications about Wolff

The FIA announced on Thursday evening - barely two days after the announcement of an investigation by the Compliance Officer - that there will be no further investigation. The F1 teams announced a day earlier that they had not filed a complaint with the FIA. The fact that the motorsport association initially launched an investigation was after a publication in Business F1. This magazine featured anonymous team bosses complaining about an alleged conflict of interest between Toto Wolff - team boss of Mercedes F1 - and Susie Wolff - the managing director of F1 Academy.
