Max Verstappen is on his way to his third world title. There are still six races to go, but with the lead built up, it looks like the Dutchman will decide the 'battle' for the title as early as this coming weekend in Qatar. Christian Horner is asked from Sky Sports whether Verstappen can win eight world championships in his career.

There are two drivers who [currently] stand on seven world titles: Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. The latter is still active, and would still have a chance to grab his eighth one day. It will require some changes to his team Mercedes' car, though, as for now the German racing stable is far behind Red Bull Racing.

Eight titles for Verstappen?

This, in turn, is already causing talk of whether Verstappen can ever get his eighth world title. However, Red Bull team boss Horner does not want to know about that yet: "He is on three [if he gets enough points this weekend in Qatar]. For eight titles, he still has a long way to go. With three, he does join, for example, Ayrton Senna. There arenot many drivers who have won more than three titles."

"I think it is a select club that he will end up in if he wins his third world title. I think he is a real racer and I know he is proud of what he does and achieves, but again, he is looking forward. He's not looking backwards, it's about next season, or not even next season, it's about the next race," Horner says.
