Austrian homes Wolff investigated: did he act in violation of rules?

Toto Wolff has an investigation by the mayor of the municipality of Aurach near Kitzbühel on his hands. The Mercedes team boss allegedly owns properties there used as so-called recreational homes. However, this is reportedly against the rules, as they stipulate that there must be a residential house.

According to the usually well-informed ORF Tirol , investor Wolff bought plots of land in Aurach near Kitzbühel in 2007 and 2011 and built houses on them. This was done through two companies: SETAI and DATAI Immobilienverwaltung GmbH. It is now suspected that two of these houses are being used as (thus illegal) recreational homes. A complaint has therefore recently been lodged with the municipality, which has therefore now launched an investigation.

"Here we are checking whether these properties are being used according to the regulations or wrongly as illegal second homes," said mayor Andreas Wurzenrainer. Toto Wolff, when purchasing the property from DATAI in 2011, contractually explicitly stated to the authority that he would not build a 'recreational home'. However, according to mayor Andreas Wurzenrainer, there are two second homes registered on the DATAI.

Wolff guilty or innocent?

Rene Berger, director of SETAI and DATAI, says he is very surprised by these proceedings. To a question from ORF Tirol, he replied that both properties complied with the legal provisions regarding use. "Neither property is used in a way that does not comply with the legal provisions."

In any case, Wolff himself does not occupy either house. According to the extract from the commercial register, he is registered in Monaco. The actual occupants of the houses must credibly prove how they use these properties by means of a declaration of residence. There is a legal obligation to cooperate.
