Karun Chandhok enjoyed last season, he stresses in conversation with Sky Sports. The former Formula One driver saw several impressive race weekends, but one Grand Prix stood out for him.

While Ferrari and Red Bull Racing jointly battled for wins for most of the season, Mercedes managed to come back in the second half of the season. It resulted in a 1-2 victory in the Brazilian GP.

First win for Russell in Brazil GP

Indeed, the Brazilian race weekend had both a sprint race and a main race, in which Mercedes came out on top twice. Although Haas F1 provided the biggest surprise of the weekend by starting the sprint race with Kevin Magnussen in pole position, it was then Mercedes that drew the longest straw.

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished first and third respectively in the sprint race, before both men battled it out with each other a day later to see who would take victory. "I like seeing new drivers win in F1 and that weekend we saw George Russell win twice," Chandhok said.

"It was a great drive and I think that last stint of the race, him and Lewis Hamilton on aged tyres in the same cars, they were really going for it. It was qualifying-level of intensity lap after lap and George didn't buckle under pressure. It was a superb drive."
