The Formula One teams close the triple header this weekend with the Monza Grand Prix. While Ferrari will be hoping to do well in front of their own crowd, Mattia Binotto knows better than anyone that the track can be treacherous.

Speaking to Ferrari's media channel, the team boss looks ahead to the race weekend ahead. After two victories for Max Verstappen after the summer break, the Italian racing team is hoping to bounce back, but there is still some work to be done before then.

"This circuit holds a unique place on the calendar as it is a super fast track," Binotto stated. "That makes it particularly tough on engines and cars. Here, the power unit is at its maximum for four fifths of the lap and it has to work perfectly. The race flies by, with 53 laps run at a very fast pace, so there is no room for mistakes from the drivers, because usually there’s no time to recover."

Binotto on love for Ferrari

Binotto has been team boss of Ferrari for several seasons now, which he is still proud of. The Italian remembers well how he once became a big fan of the racing team as a child. He eventually managed to develop into an important part of the formation.

"It began when I was a child," Binotto recalls. "Growing up in Switzerland, Ferrari was a bit like the national team for me. Every time it won, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest and I felt really proud of being Italian."
