Ferrari can look back positively on the first two races of the season. The Italian racing stable seems to be definitely back on top with the performance of the last few weeks. It is to the satisfaction of Marc Surer who in conversation with F1-insider.com explains how important the team is in Formula 1.

At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Ferrari's strengths were immediately apparent. Thus, Charles Leclerc was the winner of the weekend, while Carlos Sainz could also be satisfied with a second place. A week later, the drivers finished in second and third position respectively.

Surer sees strong Ferrari

It means that Red Bull Racing will no longer face competition from Mercedes this season, but that Ferrari will take its place. According to Surer, all teams benefit from the fact that Ferrari has found the way up again and looks set to compete for the world title.

"Ferrari is a cult racing team. The whole of Formula 1 benefits when they are good," states the former Formula 1 driver, who then tries to explain how Ferrari has returned to the top. "They have built a compact car that may not be as fast as the Red Bull, but is relatively easy to put together. The Red Bull is more sensitive. That means it's easier for Ferrari to get the maximum performance out of it."
