Lando Norris is highly rated by the bosses at McLaren and his stock rose even higher with a dominant win in the Saturday race in Bahrain.

The 18-year old has been rumoured to be Fernando Alonso’s replacement if the Spaniard opts to call it a day at the end of 2018.

Earlier this week is was suggested that it would be between Norris and fellow F2 driver Nyck de Vries if Alonso does leave.

De Vries finished fifth in today’s feature race.

Englishman Norris dominated the European F3 Championship in 2017, winning 10 races on his way to winning the title with Carlin.

The sprint race takes place tomorrow and Norris will be aiming to now consolidate his position after taking the early championship lead.
