Colton Herta will start from pole position on Sunday at the Nashville street circuit. Dutchman Rinus van Kalmthout did not do as well and will start from 22nd on the grid.

During the qualifying session of the Music City Grand Prix in Nashville it was immediately clear that it was not an easy track for the drivers. Several drivers performed below their capabilities due to the difficult track. Van Kalmthout had to drop out of the race in the first part of qualifying after his Chevrolet hit the wall and had problems with the rear suspension.

Herta was more satisfied with his performance on the track. The Andretti driver was doing pretty well in free practice, setting the fastest lap of the session and didn't disappoint in qualifying. The 21-year old driver managed to be the fastest of the day again and secure pole position for Sunday.

Battle in the World Championship

Van Kalmthout and Herta are not far apart in the World Championship. While the Dutchman has 257 points, Herta managed to secure three points more in the interim. Alex Palou, who is leading in the battle for the world title, came to the third time in qualifying, but has to start from ninth place due to an engine change.
