Red Bull Racing put in an impressive race at the French Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez taking first and third place respectively. The Austrian team was much quicker than Mercedes in the final laps, which Toto Wolff finds remarkable.
The Mercedes team boss stated in recent days that it seemed Red Bull had more power than in the past. That would be due to the new powerplant supplied by Honda, from which Red Bull would gain a lot of advantage.
Christian Horner, however, responds in the negative to his fellow team boss's words. "We're not allowed to make progress," he states in conversation with Motorsport.com. "I don't know what he's referencing there. I think that it's the same specification as the first unit. We've run a much smaller rear wing, so that's why the straight-line performance was strong."
Honda engine performance
The Red Bull team boss cannot deny that the team is very happy with the performance of the Honda engine. "I think Honda are doing a great job, but we don't see a sudden significant increase in power," said Horner, who sees Red Bull at the top of the constructors' championship with 37 points ahead of Mercedes for the time being.
